Garbage Disposal Tips
- Always run water down your disposal when operating.
- Pasta, rice, potatoes, and similar foods can cause a paste to build up in your disposal, drain and pipes causing clogs and slow water flow. Avoid dumping these items in your disposal.
- Feed your disposal slowly. Large quantities of food can damage, jam or clog your disposal.
- Keep items like utensils from falling into your disposal and always check for items before operating your disposal.
- Pour a cup of ice into your disposal and run with flowing water. As the blades break up the ice the built up food particles will be dislodged and flow down the drain. Repeat these steps a second time adding a table spoon of baking soda and half a lemon to deodorize and leave smelling fresh.
